Benyounes String quartet for Biggar concert tonight
This is a young British ensemble but one which has already enjoyed major success, winning the 2012 International Sandor Vegh String Quartet titlet in Budapest and taking second place in the 2014 Orlando International String Quartet Comepetition.
The players are Zara Benyounes and Emily Holland, violins, Tetsuumi Ngata, viola, and Kim Vaughan, cello, and they take to the Municipal Hall stage at 8pm on Friday with a programme which includes string quartets by Mozart in C, K465, Dissonance; and Mendelssohn in F minor, Op. 80; and the String Quartet by Debussy.

Hide AdFormed in 2007 at the Northern School of Music, the foursome has since delved into musical styles rangung from chamber music to jazz and recently released their debut recording, Mozart Piano Concertos with pianist Jeremy Young on Meridian Records and are part of a collaborative recording of the complete works for string quartet by Mendelssohn, released by Champs Hill.
